Even Better Than Eden: Ch. 7, Offspring, Quote 3
Shortly afterwards, Nancy writes, “My friend, you have an enemy. He’s against you. But God is for you, and nothing can separate you from him. If you are in Christ, you are absolutely secure. Whosoever believes in him will not perish. Does that mean you won’t ever be harmed in this life? Does that mean you won’t face death? No. …It means that while Satan might win a battle or two in your life, he cannot and will not win the battle for your soul. He cannot have you as his own for eternity.” (p. 123)
While not every struggle is evidence of spiritual attack, it can become a toehold for Satan to enter. He can take an honest human longing and stoke it into a fire that torments us constantly. He can take a test that God intends for our good and introduce all kinds of wants and desires.
Think about a struggle in your own life in light of these chapters. How might they help you respond? Pray? What can you do to express trust and faith towards God in the midst of your trials? How might it impact how you handle these hardships in daily life?
