Eden was unspoiled, but it was also unfinished—including Adam and Eve. This means that in the ancient near eastern culture, nakedness was actually a shameful state for royalty. True royalty should wear appropriate clothing. By His grace, these two were both naked and unashamed. But they were far from “finished.” There was even more glory God intended for this first royal couple—a glory that He intended to grow until it filled the earth!
