Even Better Than Eden: Ch. 6, Sabbath, Quote 2

This chapter offers a different perspective of the Gospel through this theme of rest: through the cross, Christ opens the door to rest for the restless of heart. By taking our unrest through sin, He makes it possible for us to experience true rest—now and for all eternity.

Christ’s work on the cross also gives us a new perspective on our purpose and work. Instead of merely doing a job, our vocation, our work—whatever it is—is infused with a new meaning. Whether we labor at home or in an office, we are to make disciples.

Consider Christ’s work on the cross through this theme of rest. What does this change for you as you look at your work today?

How can you define your everyday vocation, whether at home or outside of it, in terms of the Great Commission?
