I love using my crock pot! Yesterday, I tried this new recipe out on my family. We all agreed that it was a winner. My little one didn't care for the "papperoni" but he is a little particular. Too bad I forgot to take a picture of his spaghetti sauce face. I happened to have half a package of pepperoni from a previous recipe that I had stuck in the freezer. (You can do that! Pepperoni freezes just fine.) If you used a full package, you'd probably get more in yours. I also had a partial jar of spaghetti sauce that I had frozen too, right in the jar. It was a great way to use up ingredients without wasting. If you want, I suppose you could substitute Italian sausage for some of the ground beef if you happen to have some around. Hope you enjoy! Slow-Cooker Pizza
1 (12-16 oz.) pkg. thin spaghetti noodles
1 ½ lb. ground beef
1 small onion, chopped
1 small green bell pepper, chopped
1 can mushrooms (optional)
16 oz. spaghetti sauce
20 oz. pizza sauce
3 c. shredded cheddar
3 c. shredded mozzarella
½ to 1 large package of pepperoni
Salt, pepper, garlic to taste
Cook and drain noodles.
Brown and drain ground beef. Saute onion and bell pepper. Combine with mushrooms if desired and sauces. (Note: I used one 15 oz. jar pizza sauce and made up the rest with pizza sauce.)
If you have a disposable crockpot liner, you may wish to use one. Layer in this order: half the noodles, half the sauce/beef mix, half the cheeses, and half the pepperoni. Repeat.
Cook in crock pot at least 2 hours on medium heat, but not over 4 hours. I didn’t have a medium setting on mine, so I just did it about 4 hours on low. Worked just fine.
The original recipe suggests using an oblong slow cooker. If you don’t have one of those, you can either use the standard kind, but make 4 layers instead of 2. If you don’t have 4 hours, then assemble as directed and bake in a 9”x13” pan at 350 until cheese bubbles.
