September 2013 Mini Elephants

http://www.dreamstime.com/-image21731706Here we are, September again! It seems like once we get back to school, the holiday season is not far behind. The good thing about September is that it helps me get back to a routine again. While we enjoyed the more relaxed summer schedule, there is something nice about getting back into a pattern again. My plan is to get back to more of a pattern on this blog as well.

  • Finish memorizing Philippians!
  • Finish reading Acts.
  • Read Disciplines of a Godly Family by Kent and Barbara Hughes.
  • Go out on a date with Anah.
  • Finish portfolios and report cards.
  • Finish Janna's transcript.
  • Plan out posts for the next two months---reviews, themes, and personal posts.
  • General ideas for our homeschool group's preschool
  • Contact each mom in our homeschool moms' support group
  • Set up prayer partners for support group, set dates for quarterly events, and generate a list of possible topics to discuss
  • Find 10 new dinner recipes
  • Find 5-10 quick breakfast recipes
  • Find 5-10 lunch ideas
  • Plan the next 5 weeks of classes for kids

Well, I didn't get as much done as I would like. We started in the beginning of the month, which means that not much else gets done...or else I need to figure out a new schedule. But I did get something done that wasn't on the list! We cleared out our guest room and put up a futon and had our first guests stay in the room. I must admit that it wasn't something I wanted to get done, but necessity forced me to do something about it.

I think I'm going to continue tackling this same list until it gets done! Some things, like Janna's transcript, are going to have to get done. I guess some months are going to be like that. (I'm keeping it real here!) What I may need to do is assign myself one of these tasks to work on each day after I'm done with our school day so I can move forward. Planning for school pretty much took up most of my time last month, but now that I have a better idea of what's happening, I can work through things a little faster.

So, this month, I will work on:

  • Polishing my memory work in Ephesians and Philippians.
  • Read Romans.
  • Read For the Children's Sake by Susan Schaeffer Macaulay
  • Go out on a date with Anah.
  • Go out on a date with Jonathan.
  • Finishing my report cards.
  • Finishing Janna's transcript.
  • Planning my blog post schedule.
  • Brainstorm a list of ten books/ideas to do with our homeschool group's young learners.
  • E-mail each mom in our homeschool group in the next two weeks or touch base with them.

Heavenly Father, I ask that you will help me to remember what is most important, even if I don't have it on this list right now. I pray that you will give me the discretion and wisdom to know when to deviate from my plans so I can do what You want most. In Jesus' name, Amen.
