[box] Every Saturday morning, I will be sharing a little snippet from my own personal walk with God...straight from the heart. God has work to do in me too, and sometimes it's not pretty. But my prayer is that as I am honest, He is more able to do that work in me...and at the same time, encourage you as well.[/box] This morning, I'm going to keep it short and sweet. It's a busy weekend. At 10 am this morning and at 1:15, I'll be sharing a new workshop that my husband and I have been working on entitled "School is Always in Session." In it, we share some of the things that we have done to disciple our children.
As I was preparing for this seminar, I realized how content I was. It struck me how much He has blessed me. I didn't always think this way. If you had told me back then that I would be championing motherhood, I would have thought you were crazy. But God has a sense of humor, doesn't he? I thought I would be happiest being a pediatrician, taking care of other people's children. But as it turned out He has different plans.
I can honestly say now that I wouldn't trade my life for anyone else's. I truly love being with my children and discipling through their education. I enjoy being a pastor's wife, even if it means that the budget is tight at times. I am blessed to be able to see God unfold my life in a way that I would never have imagined.
Jeremiah 29:11 tells us that He has plans for us to bless us and prosper us. Ephesians 1 reminds me that I have every spiritual blessing in Christ. Our lives may not be much in today's society. I don't have a lot to show, nor do I bring in a paycheck for my work. But deep inside, there is a contentment and joy that I didn't think would be possible from "just" being a mom.
I think God knows what He's doing.
Heavenly Father, I am so glad that You took my life a different route. I stand in awe at how You have led and guided me to this day. I praise You and bless You for Your work in my life. I trust that You have good fruit in store one day. Thank You for the privilege of being a wife and mother. In Jesus' name, Amen.
