Rooted and Grounded (Eph 3:17-19)

"that you, being rooted and grounded in love, may have strength to comprehend with all the saints what is the

              breadth and

                              length and

                                           height and

                                                          depth,

and to know the love of Christ that surpasses knowledge, that you may be filled with all the fullness of God."--Ephesians 3:17b-19

Have you seen a bride-to-be recently?

Back in February, my husband and I had the opportunity to get away for a weekend with some young engaged couples, with the desire to equip and prepare them spiritually for their adventure ahead. They were committed to growing a godly home and we wanted to share with them some of the things we learned, both good and bad, as they prepared.

If you've ever been with a young bride, there's a sparkle in her eyes. Why? Because she knows that she is loved. Wanted. Desireable. That gives her that glow that seems to excude from every inch of her being. She loses that need to impress, because she knows that she is enough.

Not only are we children of the Father, we are a bride of the Son. We too are loved. Wanted. Desireable. Knowing that, being rooted and grounded in that love, as Paul says, can also give us a glow. We no longer need to strive to earn our salvation, for He has already done it for us.

And that is enough.

For today:

  • Ponder on the breadth, length, height and depth of the love of Christ that surpasses knowledge.
  • Pray that He might fill you with all His fullness today, that it may overflow to those around you.
