Ham 'n' Cheese Melts

We had this for dinner last night and enjoyed it! It's like french toast, but breaded and crispy and very filling. Hope you enjoy it!

Ham ‘n’ Cheese Melts

8 slices Italian or sourdough bread (1/2” thick)

4 slices provolone cheese, halved

4 slices (1 oz. each) fully cooked ham

2 eggs

2 Tbsp. milk

½ c. fine dry bread crumbs (or finely crushed saltines)

½ c. grated Parmesan cheese (If your kids don't like this, then you can try doubling up on the bread crumbs instead. I've never tried this myself, but it's worth a try!)

¼ c. butter or margarine (maybe a little more)

1 cup spaghetti sauce (about half a jar)

On four slices of bread, layer cheese and ham. Top with remaining bread. In a pie plate or shallow dish, beat eggs and milk. In another pie plate, combine bread crumbs and Parmesan cheese. Dip sandwiches into egg mixture, then crumb mixture. In a large skillet over low heat, cook sandwiches in butter for 4 minutes per side, or until golden brown. Serve with spaghetti sauce for dipping. (I heated ours up). My kids liked theirs cut into strips for easy dipping. Yield: 4 servings
