Far More Abundantly (Eph. 3:20-21)

"Now to him who is able to do far more abundantly than all that we ask or think, according to the power at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, forever and ever. Amen."--Ephesians 3:20-21

How big are your dreams?

For that matter, what do you dream of?

I must confess that sometimes, I dream too small. I dream of raising godly children. I dream of sitting on the porch with my beloved husband as grandkids play at my feet. I dream of impacting the world for Jesus, seeing mothers step up to the call of raising the next generation. I dream of seeing the church be salt and light in a world that is decaying.

I trust that I dream of things that are in line with His will. But my God, the one that I am beginning to know, can do "far more abundantly" that what I can even imagine.

Then why am I so scared? Why do I fear taking risks for Him? Paul tells me that He can do all these great things and more, according to the power that is work within me. It's not all up to me. The God who created me and has called me and has prepared good works in advance for me to do is at work. And He uses me.

Sometimes I wish He would just wave a magic wand and make it appear. But more often than not, He uses us to make those dreams a reality. It's not because I'm all that great. But that's okay. For the smaller I am, the greater He is, so that "to Him be the glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, forever and ever. Amen."

For today:

  • What might God be wanting to do through you? How might He want to exhibit His power through you? What holds you back?
  • Offer yourself to Him as a showcase for His glory.
